Eating the Word of God

Nom nom nom.

As I mentioned once before (in an older blog post on an older blog), my desire to blog increases exponentially when there is studying to be avoided.

Alas, a semester, two semesters, three semesters later... (okay, I blogged that last winter), it hasn't changed. This probably isn't something I should be posting online when I consider something like future employment, but it's true. Note that it's only for study avoidance, and not homework. I can do work.

So, as I mentioned, I wanted to shift the direction of the blog to something beyond just physical food. It would be a shift towards the consideration of spiritual (and occasionally psychological) food as well. Today's food shall be spiritual, because I have enjoyed a few things lately.

Because I should keep it bite-size, I will just share two verses that touched me:

"And the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faithful is He who calls you, who also will do it."

(1 thessalonians 5:23-24)

I was particularly struck by these verses because I'm so used to hearing the first verse as proof that man is a tripartite being (i.e. made of spirit, soul and body) that I totally missed what the verses are saying.

God is faithful. Many of us know that, even if we don't truly believe it in our day-to-day lives. But what is He faithful to do? He is faithful to sanctify us! As in, make us wholly (completely) holy (just like He is).

I think that's awesome.
